GHRP-2, also referred to as KP-102, is a short polypeptide classified within the group of growth hormone-releasing proteins. Comprising only six amino acids, it has a molecular mass of 817.9 and a molecular formula of C45H55N9O6.
Originally synthesized in the early 1990s, GHRP-2 belongs to a family of synthetic oligopeptides derived from specific amino acids. Research over the past two decades has highlighted its ability to stimulate the natural release of endogenous growth hormone by influencing G-protein receptors.
A significant clinical study on peptide hormones, including GHRP-2, was conducted by American researchers at Arkansas University and concluded in 1997. Findings indicated that GHRP-2 could elevate levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and enhance hypothalamic function. However, its primary characteristic remains its potent ability to stimulate the functioning of the pituitary gland.
Moreover, GHRP-2 has been observed to promote an increase in average muscle mass and demonstrate effects on physiological systems, including heightened calcium ion influx and anti-inflammatory properties.
